Woody Guthrie Folk Festival
The Woody Guthrie Coalition a non-profit organization in Okemah, OK (Woody Guthrie's birthplace)
which sponsors an annual festival around the time of his birthday, July 14. Nationally known musicians
are featured on the huge outdoor stage, and scholars present lectures and programs on Guthrie in local venues.

Vanaver Caravan
The Vanaver Caravan is a music and dance troupe of New York, NY who present a program entitled
Pastures of Plenty with the music of Woody Guthrie. They work closely with Nora Guthrie, Woody's daughter
and Arlo's sister, in developing their material. The Vanaver Caravan appeared in Pampa in January and
October 2004.
Pete Seeger
Pete Seeger was a fellow musician with Woody Guthrie during the 1940s and 50s. Pete and Woody worked
together in THE ALMANAC SINGERS group. Pete traveled with Woody to Pampa at least once in the early 1940s,
and then became an important figure in the Folk movement of the 1960s after Guthrie was immobilized
with Huntington's Disease. Pete and his wife of 60+ years, live in upstate New York. Pete Seeger appeared
with his colleague Jimmy Collier of California in Pampa in October 2003.

West Texas Music Hall of Fame
The West Texas Music Hall of Fame a non-profit organization based in
Fort Worth TX, which has information about numerous Texas musicians. So far, Woody is NOT included. The director is Sid Holmes.
Huntington's Disease Foundation
Huntington's Disease Society of America is a national organization founded by Marjorie Guthrie
to promote research and study of Huntington's Disease, which affected Woody Guthrie, his mother,
Nora Guthrie, and possibly his maternal grandfather. The disease, which is congenitally
transmitted, has no cure and kills the person who inherits the gene.
The Wanderers
The Wanderers folk duo Bill Murlin & Carl Allen of Portland OR who present songs
and history of Woody Guthrie Columbia River Songs and the Bonneville Dam Project of the 1940s.
Bill Murlin edited the Columbia River Songbook collection, published by Folkways, in collaboration
with Nora Guthrie. The Wanderers will be featured in Pampa on October 7, 2006, during the Saturday
evening barbecue dinner annual Tribute to Woody Guthrie.
